The starting field. In the SSC club we now have eight cars, although the #43 Dodge Cherios wasn’t ready for the track this time either. The Kodak car owned by Thorbjörn Lundkvist was as usual put in the hands of his son Jimmy. Mats John Deer car wasn’t present so at start we where six drivers this time.
Racers where: Lars Johansson, Torbjörn Lundkvist, Jimmy Månström, Anders Lattermann, Hans Kihlén and Niclas
Lindblom.
The concept:
First some lines about the basic concept. It is pretty straight forward and the rules are pretty simple: Take a Revell plastic 1:24 model of a Nascar, build it and keep everything of the interior that is viewable through the windows and cut away the rest and put it on motorized slotracing chassi.
The race was as usual held at the 40 meter long slotracing track at Stockholm Slotcar Club in Barkarby 25 km north west of Stockholm city.
See more about how to build a car and pictures from the track in the first Nascar race report.
The race:
As before, we calculated that 66 minutes total driving time would make a good long race and that the winner and maybe some other of the top racers would make 500 laps.
Our computerized Atis system has been a little strange lately and given to short segment times, so we have momentarily gone back to our trusted Swedaxi timing system. It is a computerized machine made in 1982 and although it was extremely modern then, it can’t output any logs on disk as the Atis can so we don’t have as much data saved as with the Atis.
First we had Qualification:

This time we where 6 drivers. Lars Johansson took a strong lead as has been the case the last races, with the rest of the field chasing him. Anders Lattermann had problems with the brake that fell out some times, probably a motor brush problem, and lost 6 laps in the start. Anders drove as fast as he could and eventually got the 3d place. Torbjörn who have gotten his car in good order, got the second place and managed to join the “500 laps club”.
Jimmy had a bad time and nothing seamed to work for him with a lot of deslotting and crashes so he pulled out. Then Niclas had some problems with the motor getting loose and Jimmy realized that maybe after all he could get a better position than the sixth place so he came back on track and started to run again. That was a good decision since he got the fifth place and Niclas had to take the sixth place. Hans has gotten his car in fairly good shape and managed to get the fourth place this time.
Lars finally took the win, on this the last race for the season, after the 66 minutes of running time and also secured the 1st place in the series!
Among the spectators that visited the event was once again our club chairman Rickard Lundh and two guys that usually runs Scalextric cars at home. Will they be rookies next year?
