New years eve 2001/2002

We where 4 guys that spent new years eve together. We raced a lot, first at the club, then in my house on the Scalextric track I have in the garage and we also put up a Ninco track in the living room.

Here are some pictures from the garage race:

Lasse Åberg, Mats Hummel and Niclas Lindblom. Mats has been slot racing for a long time. Niclas and I are rather new. Lasse is also a racer since long time. He has actually won the G7 slotcar World Championship back in the 70s. Lasse also showed that he still has the grip when he in 2001 won the title again, so I have raced againts the current World Champion in my own garage!

Mats is concentrating to win the race. Niclas is drinking beer. Lasse looks happy although he had a hard time on this slow track. Not exactly the feeling of a G7 wing car here. It was also rather cold in the garage (15 degres celsius) and the track and tyres where harder than normal and therefor not as grippy as usual so it was a little like running on ice. But it was a lot of fun with much tail sliding!

How I did? I gave Lasse a combat and it was more or less even. Mats was in a very good mood and was unbeatable. Niclas was more into beer drinking than driving slotcars (strange guy isn't he? ;-). If I remember correctly so are these pictures taken around 4 o'clock in the morning and we stayed up till a little past 7 in the new year actually.
